Who is teaching the classes? 

My name is Jessie, and I will be teaching these classes, beginning with SMX West.  Some of you may have attended, or spoken on a panel with me at various industry conferences I presented at in the past.  I have had seven years of yoga practice of varying intensity, a little over 1000 practice hours by my estimates.  I have done various trainings in Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa traditions with Lisa WalfordSeane CornMax Strom, and Rosemary Garrison. My practice is deep, and committed.

Where is the class being held? 

Room 212, San Jose Convention Center. 

What style and level of yoga will be taught?

The class style will be slow, breath-focused Vinyasa Flow - tailored to the experience of the group. It will also be mixed levels, as I welcome complete beginners who haven't taken a yoga class before (you should try it), as well as serious students with some practice time on their mats.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

No need to bring a mat, as I will provide them.  But do feel free to bring your own. I personally love the Un Mat for travel.

Do I need to register online in advance?

No... drop-ins are welcome. You can pay in person with cash, or credit card via Square - just come a few minutes early.

Why conference yoga?

I spent many years as a conference speaker traveling tens of thousands of miles for these events annually.  Airport food, airplane food, hotel food, late night networking events, jet-lag, sleep cycle disruption, and a non-stop pace were nearly unavoidable elements of the conference experience.  Isolation from the communities, environments and activities that supported my health and well-being, combined with these stressors, made finding a healthy life balance while traveling for the shows very difficult. 

I started to think: if only there had been a structured way for me to find more balance at these events, to step out of the think & drink tank, without having to skip half a day of sessions to travel to and from a local yoga studio...

And then it hit me:

The conferences need yoga.

It is a bold undertaking (thank you Third Door Media).

It is not about acronyms, apps, or analytics.

It is unprecedented at these events.

And, it is necessary.

By offering conference yoga, I hope for the following:
